A few years ago I discovered the amazingly talented Claudia a.k.a “Phatpuppy” Art Studios. If you think you’ve never seen her gorgeous art, guess again. Claudia has done over 700 book covers, not to mention countless commercial and commission projects. Chances are you have several of her covers already in your library.
In 2014, Craving Beauty was still in first draft stage, but I was already on the lookout for inspiration. I came across Claudia’s site and a section of discounted work available for covers. One in particular grabbed me the moment I saw it. It was like someone plucked Vynasha from my head and brought her to life. I sat on the coverart, thinking I’d use later. Well it’s been three + years since I first purchased this piece. Since then I’ve published two different incarnations of Craving Beauty, released a companion novella, a sequel and am penning a third installment. Najla Qamber Designs has been my sole designer since I started publishing in 2012 and we knew we would get around to Phatpuppy’s gorgeous work eventually. Once Naj made the Scarred Beauty cover for me, I realized I couldn’t show Phatpuppy’s art as the “after.” Vynasha goes through a pretty big transformation between books 1-2 and this new coverart reflects that. Claudia’s art showcases the scarred, withdrawn girl barely keeping her nephew and herself alive.
I’m so in love with this one in case you couldn’t already tell! Once again, Najla Qamber Designs has done typography and design placement. A huge thank you goes to Claudia of Phatpuppy Art, for allowing me the use of her art to bring Vynasha to life. Also for waiting three years to showcase her work 😉 Be sure to check out her website! Also don’t forget, Craving Beauty is FREE on Kindle and wherever ebooks are sold!
