Dear Bound Beauty,
You were a labor of love, labor intensive, and laborously brought to life over the course of this past year. There were days when I rewrote, and revised, and chiseled away at the parts of you I deemed unworthy. You may not be perfect, but you’re my book baby and I love you, anyway.
Over the past year I’ve grown so much as a storyteller and a person. Somehow, all that is tied up into this novel. Perhaps I was meant to struggle because Vynasha struggles so much throughout this volume of the Wylder Tales series? Perhaps art really does imitate life? Either way, I’m happy to share you with the world today. After all, it’s my birthday, too.
So happy birthday to us, and happy birthday to Grandma in heaven. I miss you every day in a thousand little ways, but especially today, on our day. Releasing a new book would have made Grandpa so proud, and I like to think you’re proud, too. Here’s to perserverance, and to living out my dream one book at a time.
