in real life
Welcome back to yet another weekly wittering post, friend. This past month saw a return to the art of writing for me. With my kids at school and more time to balance my day job and writing life, I suddenly found mornings were the perfect time for getting down words. But not only words… a whole routine I haven’t felt I’ve had since my daughter was born four years ago (yes, that long). Until this season, I’ve been in a consatant race to squeeze in all the things. Each day I would do a thing as I thought of doing it, and somehow was able to keep up with the chaos. But trying to write consistently was a major struggle for me, one I pretty much abandoned besides writing on my phone app whenever I could. Bound Beauty changed that for me.
When I published the long awaited sequel in July (finally!), I suddenly realized I could. I could finish a book. I could still find joy in the art of writing. I still loved this. The endless pursuit of striving to improve my writing, my business, and myself as a person and a mother. Every time I publish a book, I learn something about myself in the process. Because writing is such an isolated creative process, and a lot is based on willpower. How much do you really want this? How hard are you will to work, willing to go? Each book forces an author to dig deep in the well of not just our imagination but our experiences, our hearts and minds.
I learned that I am capable of so much more than I thought I was, and this has given me so much more freedom. Now I look forward to each day instead of dreading where I’m going next in my stories. Drafting Annwyn Park and Heartless Beauty has been so much fun for me, when I had forgotten how much I could enjoy writing. Wherever you’re at today, I hope you rekindle that same joy in your life for whatever it is you love creating. Thanks so much for coming on this journey with me, friend. But enough about me…
in bookish news
Did you see the new cover design for Annwyn Park? Some of you may have noticed that I’ve started adding object-based covers to the Borderlands Saga series. But I still love and adore my lady covers so much, I’ve decided to use both! We’ll slowly see more object covers going forward, but my main covers for this series will continue to be inspired by my first loves. Thanks so much for Najla at Qamber Designs for always crafting something beautiful for me every time! (and a massive thanks for her neverending patience for my whimsy lol) Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
bewitching book tour
Starting tomorrow, October 5th, we’re going on virtual tour with Bound Beauty! I’ve had so much fun doing interviews and guest blogs for my fellow bloggers on the tour. And I’m excited to see some more love for the Wylder Tales series. Don’t miss it and your chance to enter the raffle for fun prizes! I’ll be sharing on my socials as the tour moves along, so stay tuned:
So what’s next? Besides everything I shared above, I’m also planning the cover reveal for Heartless Beauty, and continuing my drafts of both Heartless, and Annwyn Park. Wish me luck! You can follow me here at the blog, or my newsletter for more.
Thank you so much to those of you who have followed and supported me over the years. I’m still publishing today because of you, friend. ๐ For now, it’s on to the next tale, and the next…
